Conductor: Clement Wong Cheuk-nang 

王卓能為香港土生土長單簧管手和指揮，王氏自14 歲起，在聖文德書院就讀期間學習單簧管，師承恩師黃日照老師，學校期間培養出他的音樂才華。

 

畢業後，王氏隨蔡國田先生於香港浸會大學學習單簧管，及後於香港演藝學院師從香港管弦樂團的助理單簧管首席史家翰，並於演藝學院取得文憑及高級文憑。王氏在學期間曾贏得協奏曲比賽並入選亞洲青年管弦樂團，2001年隨團巡演亞洲各地。畢業後，王氏獲頒獎學金，遠赴三藩市音樂學院深造，師隨三藩市交響樂團的單簧管手費里牧斯與比亞斯。

王氏曾兩度於百老匯著名音樂劇《歌聲魅影》香港巡演時獲委任為單簧管首席。王氏亦曾任香港城市室樂團的單簧管手。2011年，王氏參與著名牧童笛演奏家柏特利的專輯錄音，並由世界知名的拿索斯唱片於2012年5 月發行。

Wong Cheuk Nang Clement is a native Hong Kong clarinetist and conductor. Wong had started music at the age of fourteen when he succeeded in a school band audition and took up clarinet. As he embarked through his music years with the band, it came to light of Wong’s talent as a musician.

 

After high school, he continued his music education at the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Upon the completion of his Music Foundation in Clarinet at the HKBU with Mr. Martin Choy, he was admitted to the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts (HKAPA) where he completed his Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Clarinet Performance. He studied clarinet with Mr. John Schertle, Acting Principal Clarinetist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. While pursuing his studies in HKAPA, Wong was identified as a young talent and later selected for the Asian Youth Orchestra in 2001.

 

Following his graduation in HKAPA, Wong was awarded a scholarship by the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where he further pursued his clarinet studies with Mr. Ben Freimuth and Mr. Luis Baez who are both members of the San Francisco Symphony.

 

Wong was selected as the Principal Clarinetist of the famous Broadway Show Phantom of the Opera for the Hong Kong session. Wong had also previously played in the City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong performing as tutti clarinetist.

 

Wong is also highly sought after for professional recordings and gigs. In 2011, was invited by the English Recorder Concertos for recording sessions with the eminent recorder player, Michala Petri. The record was released in mid-May 2012 and distributed by Naxos, a world leading classical music label.
