Mr. PAK Wing-heng

Pak joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1976 as a full-time trombone player. In 1977, he was awarded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship to further his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. After returning from the UK in 1981, Pak joined the Music Office, and completed a bachelor¡¦s programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong during the course of his work. In 1996, he assumed the position of Music Officer of the Wind Section in the Music Office.

Pak has participated in numerous local and overseas large-scale performances. He performed in the presence of Queen Elizabeth during her visit to Hong Kong, and was a guest performer in the All Japan Band Clinic in 1989. He also appeared in the Asia and Pacific Band Directors Association (APBDA) Band Festival in Taiwan in 1992, the Korea Cheju Summer Band Festival in 1995, the Music Office Spectacular in 2000, and the First APBDA Band Festival in Guangzhou in 2002. He has won critical acclaims for all the performances.

Apart from being an instructor, performer and conductor, Pak often serves as a guest speaker at band clinics, adjudicator at music festivals, and guest conductor at performances bother in Hong Kong and abroad. He is currently Acting Senior Music Officer of the Wind Section of Music Office and also a part-time resident conductor for the Academy Symphonic Wind Ensemble of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
